SPEAKER

Donna Cheswick, CDFA, CQS, Divorce Mediator and Financial Advisor, has 38 years of experience in the financial services industry. She is a Financial Advisor with Medallion Wealth Management. She is also the owner of Cheswick Divorce Solutions LLC., located in Southwestern Pennsylvania, where she helps individuals, couples and family law attorneys with all the financial complexities that arise during divorce to ensure the most financial advantageous settlement possible. Education is the backbone of her business, and she frequently teaches workshops on a wide variety of topics relating to finance and divorce as well as authored numerous articles for local/national print and online publications. Donna is a trained divorce mediator, collaborative financial neutral and certified QDRO specialist.

SEMINAR

The preparation of QDRO’s (and like-Orders) can be fraught with landmines. These documents are getting more plan specific and more complex.

The first hour will cover Defined Contribution Plans:

  • Items to obtain and why
  • Flat dollar awards vs. including gains/losses
  • Understanding the various “buckets” in a participant account
  • Equalizing multiple plans
  • How to handle loans
  • The Top 10 must have’s for every QDRO
  • Marital and non-marital amounts

The second hour will cover Defined Benefit Plans:

  • When/why to use shares interest vs. separate interest DRO’s
  • Benefit options for a current employee vs. retiree
  • Addressing pre and post-retirement survivor options
  • Methods of division – Coverture Fraction, Flat Amount, Percentage or Formula
  • Understanding COLAs, retirement subsidies/supplements
  • Common mistakes to avoid

Cancellation Policy for ECBA Events/Seminars: Cancellations received on or before the last reservation deadline will be fully refunded. Cancellations received after the deadline or non-attendance will not be refunded. If you register for an event without payment in advance and don’t attend, it will be necessary for the ECBA to send you an invoice for the event.
