2013 Annual Law Day Luncheon

Posted on May 10th, 2013 at 2:54 PM

The Erie County Bar Association celebrated Law Day with their Annual Law Day Luncheon.

The Bayfront Convention Center was filled with excitement as members of the bar association and the community came together to celebrate Law Day.

This year, the bar association celebrated the day with Keynote Speaker, Julian Bond. Bond serves as Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Directors of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), the nation's oldest and largest civil rights organization. He captured the audiences' attention recalling important moments in the history of the civil rights movement, not just as someone who watched it happen, but as someone who participated in those moments.

Also at the luncheon, the recipients for the Pro Bono Award, Chancellor of the Bar Award and The Liberty Bell were recognized by everyone in attendence. Congratulations to those recipients:

Pro Bono Award - Laurie C. TeWinkle, Esquire
Chancellor of the Bar -  Ritchie T. Marsh, Esquire
Liberty Bell Award - Max Peaster

What is Law Day?
A day set aside nationally to:

  • enhance and expand our education on law-related topics through programs like this one;
  • reflect on our rights and responsibilities as citizens;
  • examine and celebrate the role of laws in our country;
  • remember our country’s legal heritage;
  • reaffirm our dedication to the ideals of equality and justice under law.
