AKT Wins Big

Despite the fact that over 425 people participated in the 10th Annual Law Day Run/Walk in April, each vying for a spot in the awards ceremony, the real winners from the race are the students that participate in the Attorneys & Kids Together (AKT) program.

The AKT program was established to support the educational needs of students in homeless situations in Erie County. The AKT program is multifaceted and includes a mentoring program, Kid Konnection. The Kid Konnection program pairs an attorney with a student from a local shelter to participate in seven organized activities spread over several months. Each year, the students look forward to the "Big Trip" to a nearby city (Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Buffalo, etc.). This year's trip took place this past Friday, June 14, 2013. This year, members from the Law Day Run Committee were there to send them off, but not until they presented the AKT committee with a check for $13,650! What a great way to start the trip!

Thank you to all the volunteers, participants, and sponsors would made the Law Day Run/Walk well worth it.

Visit the AKT page on our website to learn more about the program!
