Call for 2017 Liberty Bell Award Nominations

The Erie County Bar Association seeks nominations for the 2017 Liberty Bell Award.  The award recognizes an individual for community service that has "strengthened the American system of freedom under law".  In order to qualify, the nominee must be a resident of Erie, must not be an attorney, and should fulfill one of the following criteria:

  • fosters an understanding and appreciation of the rule of law
  • promotes a better understanding of the Constitution and Bill of Rights
  • encourages a greater respect for the law and for the courts
  • contributes to the effective functioning of our government
  • advocates for individual responsibility so that citizens recognize their duties as well as their rights

Those submitting a nomination should review the form linked here to develop their submission describing why the nominee qualifies and deserves public recognition.  Nominations should be returned to the Erie County Bar Association no later than Friday, February 10, 2017.

The winner of the Liberty Bell Award will be recognized at the ECBA's Law Day Luncheon at the Bayfront Convention Center on Monday, May 1, 2017.
