ECBA Covid-19 Update – March 17, 2020

The Erie County Bar Association team has been monitoring the evolving health threat posed by the Covid-19 pandemic and the responses and recommendations from federal, state, and local government leaders and health officials.

Effective immediately:

Committee, Division and Section Meetings:  Meetings, if not canceled, will be held by conference call from March 17 to April 1, 2020. ECBA staff liaisons will circulate the conference telephone call-in number and passcode prior to the meetings.

Continuing Legal Education Seminars: All CLE seminars are canceled until April 1, 2020. ECBA members will receive a full refund of their registration fees.  This includes Bridge the Gap on March 25.

PBI Groupcasts and Video Replays: PBI has canceled all of its live and groupcast seminars until mid-April. The Erie County Bar Association has cancelled all video replay seminars that were to be hosted in our building.

PACLE Board Extension of April 30 Reporting Period: The PACLE Board advises that attorneys who need an extension to obtain their required CLE credits by April 30 to email a request for an extension to pacleb@pacle.org. The PACLE Board also has issued the following statement: The CLE Board is continuing to monitor the impact of the coronavirus on the public, the legal profession, and the CLE landscape. We understand and appreciate your concerns about whether special measures are needed. As of now, the CLE Board has not modified any of the CLE Rules, Regulations, or practices. Should the Board determine a need to take action with regard to CLE requirements, any changes will be announced on our website and/or in another direct manner. 

Admittance to and use of the ECBA facility:  The ECBA office is limited to staff and key leadership until April 1, 2020. Lawyer referrals will be handled by phone only until April 1, 2020.
