The Erie County Law Foundation 25^th Anniversary Luncheon benefitting the Chief Justice Samuel J. Roberts Scholarship was held Monday, October 13, 2014 at the Bayfront Sheraton Hotel.  

 Erie County Law Foundation Board of Trustees Chair Christine McClure welcomed the family of Chief Justice Samuel J. Roberts including daughter Bobbi Pollock, her children Howard Pollock and Jodi Shulimson, and their children.  Rabbi John Bush of the Temple Anshe Hesed opened the program with a special blessing. Attendees then enjoyed video clips of Chief Justice Robert’s 1983 swearing in ceremony and a special message to his family and former law clerks from Attorney James Strazzella, of the Temple University Beasley School of Law.

 Attorney Patrick M. “Mick” Livingston, ECLF Scholarship Committee member, delivered special memories and anecdotes of his years serving as Chief Justice Robert’s law clerk. Gannon President Dr. Keith Taylor discussed the importance of scholarships in making higher education accessible and affordable for today’s law students. Mercyhurst University professor and Erie County Bar Association board member Attorney Tina Fryling, first recipient of the Chief Justice Samuel J. Roberts Scholarship, thanked the Foundation for the support which helped her and many other students accomplish their academic and professional goals.

 Mrs. Pollock thanked those in attendance for coming to enjoy the afternoon in honor of her father and to thank them for their generosity in support of the Scholarship. The Erie County Law Foundation commissioned local artist William Kirner to paint images of the Common Pleas and US Federal Courthouses. Donors to the Foundation’s Anniversary $250 for 25 Years Campaign in honor of the Chief Justice Robert’s Scholarship will receive prints of the watercolors.
