Finding a Lawyer: The Lawyer Referral & Information Service
There isn't a better place to call when you need legal advice, guidance, or to hire an attorney than the Erie County Bar Association (PA) Lawyer Referral & Information Service. This LRIS meets the American Bar Association's strict standards for lawyer referral services and has been assisting the community for more than 40 years.

The LRIS trained staff will connect you with a qualified lawyer and provide you with either a free consultation or a reduced-rate consultation so that you can meet with a lawyer. If you live outside of the area but need assistance from an Erie lawyer, a phone consultation can be arranged.
Here's how it works:
- Upon contacting LRIS at 459-4411 (8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.), a person will be asked to give their name, contact information, a brief description of their legal matter.
- An ECBA LRIS representative will refer them to a lawyer experienced in the field of law that meets their specific needs and provide them with contact information so they can set-up their 30-minute consultation.
- At the time of referral, a $50 fee payable by credit card, cash or money order will guarantee a 30-minute consultation with a lawyer. Following the consultation, if they decide to hire the lawyer for further representation, additional lawyer fees and/or costs will apply. Like lawyers you see advertising on television, the LRIS offers free consultations in areas including accident injuries, dog bites, motorcycle accidents injuries, denial or stoppage of workers' compensation and denial of Social Security (SSI or SSD.) Offering free consultations in these areas of law is common practice.
